Training Night

By Assistant Chief Matthew Primiano
October 16, 2025

Last evening, our Firefighters took advantage of a soon to be demolished structure to do some realistic training on search, hose stretching, breaching and vertical ventilation.
The fire scene becomes quite the symphony, the engine crew arrives and immediately forms a plan to put hoses in place to get water on the fire. The ladder company sets up shop to “stick the roof” to preform vertical ventilation by cutting large holes in the roof to exhaust all the very hot and toxic products of combustion so the interior crews can push farther to find the “seat” of the fire. The next due engine, finds the fire hydrant and establishes a water supply. The ladder company and engine company work together to conduct rapid searches in all areas of the structure to find life. All of this happens in a matter of minutes, while the incident commander watches conditions from the exterior making sure to protect his people.
It is always a great opportunity when we can acquire a structure to train on, so our next symphony runs fluidly! Great job to all who attended.
