| Last night , our members trained on vehicle extrication. Crews worked together to stabilize, and disentangle these two vehicles that were set up as a realistic scenario. Simiulating that there were 2 front seat occupants, members worked to cut away the silver car with the “Jaws of Life”, going over techniques of popping doors, cutting hinges, breaking glass, eventually rolling the roof back onto itself. After that, it was simulated that an occupant had his legs pinned under the dash, and a dash roll/lift had to be preformed. The mini-van was used as a prop for our newer members to slowly but thoroughly get familiar with using these tools without having the added stress of a complicated extrication. All went well, ironically, shortly after this crews responded to a car vs tree in the same area the training was held. We stay ready to answer the call! |
