6 OCT 2024- At around 1400hrs, crews were dispatched to this home for a kitchen fire in the basement with a trapped victim.

Lt Freitas of Tower Ladder 1, who is a nextdoor neighbor, and off-duty Police Officer R. Feeney from East Providence Police quickly sprang into action and entered the basement to help the occupants escape to safety. They also contained the fire with a faucet sprayer from a kitchen sink.

Without their quick thinking and selflessness, the outcome could have resulted in personal injury or extensive damage. Great job Lieutenant, Officer Feeney and to all who responded today.
